NEW CASTLE (KDKA)- The state fire marshal is looking into the cause of a deadly early Tuesday morning fire in New Castle.
The fire started around 2:15 a.m. at a home on Boyles Avenue.
When officers arrived on scene, there were reports of two children trapped in the home. An officer ran inside and tried to rescue an infant and a small child.

Both children were pulled out of the home and taken to the hospital. The victims have been identified as 3-month-old Roman Whittier and a 5-year-old boy Isaiah Whittier.
A 6-year-old boy suffered some minor burns and a 2-year-old boy was not hurt. The boys’ mother had burns to her hands and arms.
The boys’ father, grandmother and a grandmother’s friend were all in the home at the time of the fire. None of them were seriously hurt.
