PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some overnight snow and cold temperatures have caused some slick spots on the roads for the Tuesday morning commute.
According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, a general 1-3 inches of snow fell around the area overnight.
Areas south of the city got the worst of it. As a result, some of the side streets in the South Hills were still snow-covered as of 6 a.m.

Fortunately, the main roads were in good shape.
Road crews have been out since the snow started to fall Monday night. Their challenge was getting the salt to actually take effect and melt the snow.
“We [have] a full surplus of salt, brine, calcium, anti-skid, which is mostly what we’re using now because of the cold temperatures. So, in that regard, we’re doing well,” PennDOT Highway Foreman Joe Palumbo said.
