PENN HILLS (KDKA) — Police in Penn Hills are investigating how people’s credit or debit card information was stolen.

In the last few days, 10 to 12 people have come forward to say they’ve become victims, according the chief of police.

He says they’re looking to see if it could have happened at some gas stations in the area, but it’s unclear if it was when victims bought something or used an ATM.

And not all of the victims even went to the same station.

The chief says two or three victims report ATM withdrawals from their accounts being made in Squirrel Hill.

Caitlin Driscoll, from the Better Business Bureau, says when it comes to theft, credit cards are always safer to use than debit cards.

However, these victims should not be on the hook for fraudulent charges if they catch it in time.
